This is known in the village as the Kipper Roundabout. There is a mosaic of a dinosaur skeleton displayed on the roundabout [the skeleton was discovered locally] and the picture does look a little like a kipper. Also known as the Jerusalem Round as a house of the same name used to sit there. The cars just used to drive around it.
